SGI Gulf envisions a world built on peace, dignity, and sustainable development. Our mission is to empower individuals—especially youth—to create positive change through cultural dialogue, education, and environmental awareness.

History & Development Timeline
Founded in 2004, SGI Gulf began its journey as an extension of the global SGI network to engage residents in the UAE and Gulf region in activities that promote culture, sustainability & education for peace.
2004
2005–2012
Seeds of Change Exhibition – featured in leading universities, schools, and corporate spaces.
2007–2010
Building a Culture of Peace Exhibition – focused on youth, literacy, and UN peacebuilding themes.
2011–Present
The Poetic Heart – Connecting Humanity through Poetry – UAE’s only intergenerational peace poetry platform.
As SGI Gulf matured, it transitioned from project-based activity to a strategic, goal-oriented planning structure aligned with sustainability and civic engagement frameworks .
Strategic Objectives
Outlined in the 2014 Addendum, SGI Gulf’s priorities evolved to focus on:
- Organizing Peace-themed Exhibitions & Dialogues that connect with UN SDGs.
- Providing Creative Platforms like The Poetic Heart to amplify youth voices and artistic leadership.
- Engaging the Public through Education Campaigns, including peace rooms, school forums & sustainability training.
- Strengthening Community Partnerships with educational institutions, NGOs, and cultural bodies in the UAE.
- Cultivating a Sustainable Volunteer Ecosystem with empowered youth at its core .
Engagement & Outreach Initiatives
- School Collaborations with Dubai Women’s College, Zayed University, Emirates International School, and others.
- Corporate Partnerships with Emirates Group, ENOC, and Dubai Properties to promote environmental awareness and ethical leadership.
- Youth & Community Events such as essay contests, peace poem recitations, children’s art showcases, and Earth Day campaigns.
Volunteer Leadership & Participation
Leadership development programs are conducted annually, with mentorship opportunities, cultural diplomacy training & public speaking practice sessions. “Our volunteers are not just helpers – they are co-creators of change, representing the ideals of SGI Gulf in action.”
